We are looking at Proverbs 31 this week for Mother's Day. Proverbs 31:10 says, "An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels." Interestingly, the phrase "excellent wife" is more literally translated as "a woman of strength." Her strength is displayed as she selflessly gives of herself for her family and her community, and as a result, she is praised by her family and at the city gates (Prov. 31:28,31). Yet, sadly, this passage often brings angst when people don't stack up with it or don't experience this type of love in their homes. So how does this become a grace-filled, hopeful look at God's design for women?
