Abounding in Thanksgiving

November 21, 2021 Speaker: Keith Kneeshaw Series: Colossians

Passage: Colossians 2:6–7, Colossians 3:15–17, Colossians 4:2

Next Thursday, our country will celebrate Thanksgiving. As people in our country recognize the abundance that is enjoyed, who are they thanking? Thanksgiving presupposes that someone other than ourselves that has brought goodness and blessing into our lives. Because of that, the Apostle Paul ties together "receiving Christ Jesus as Lord" with "abounding in thanksgiving" (Col. 2:6-7). Later, he repeats the command to be thankful in three consecutive verses (Col. 3:15-17) as a crucial part of what the "new self" looks like. Does thankfulness overflow in your life?

Notes:
1) Thankfulness Starts with Lordship
2) Watchfulness Leads to Thankfulness
3) Thankfulness in a Gospel-Community
