Throughout the study of the Minor Prophets, we have seen God move against man's sin and rebellion.  Most often, God spoke to his own people, Israel, through his prophets and called them to turn from their wicked ways and turn back to him.  In Obadiah, God spoke to Edom, one of the neighboring territories of Israel.  God saw that they were deceived by earthly security and had ignored the plight of Israel as they were attacked by another army.  By way of judging Edom, God will bring salvation to Israel.
