What do I really think it means to follow Jesus? Does it mean having a club to belong to? Does it mean working hard to be a better person? Does it mean putting my children through a Sunday school program? Does it mean acting like I have everything in my life all planned out and perfect? Our view of following the Lord can become so skewed! In Luke 14:7-24, Jesus shares a parable and confronts some Pharisees who have a misguided understanding and practice of what it means to belong to the people of God - that "everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
