The Gospel for the Hermit

January 29, 2023 Speaker: Todd Boone Series: Gospel Reset

Passage: 2 Samuel 9:1–13

“I don’t think other people can help me, I have too many problems.” “Others won’t want to waste their time on me.” “I can grow in the Lord simply by listening to sermons and reading my Bible from home.” “Other believers don’t need me, and I don’t need them.” There are reasons and experiences aplenty for why Christians can tend to isolate themselves. However, the gospel calls us to a different way: one of vulnerability, of humility, and of looking outside yourself for your needs. In this sermon, we’ll be reminded of The Gospel for the Hermit from 2 Samuel 9:1-13, mindful that we are called out of isolation and into a family.

1. Acknowledge Our Fears (vv. 1-4)
2. Respond to the King (vv. 5-10)
3. Eat at the Family Table (vv. 11-13)
