Look Within Before Looking Around

Why is it so easy to see faults in people around us, while often being blind to our own shortcomings? Why do we not only see faults in others but also critically judge them for those faults? Yet, we know the verse, "Judge not, lest you be judged." In Matthew 7:1–6, Jesus calls us to assess and avoid two spiritual dangers: hypocritical judgment and naive acceptance. This passage does not forbid all discernment or correction. Instead, we must humbly examine ourselves before correcting others. Join us on Sunday as we explore another aspect of living poor in spirit.
