This Sunday we will look at Numbers 17-19 which show how God provides the very thing His people cannot provide for themselves. In chapter 17, God settles Israel’s grumbling by revealing the mediator he has chosen, the one through whom life will come. In chapter 18, God establishes the work of that mediator, a calling that protects the people from the danger of his holiness. In chapter 19, God provides cleansing through the means he appoints so that those touched by death can return to His presence. These chapters remind us that we do not approach God on our own terms. We come through the one he chooses, the one who stands for us, the one who cleanses us so that we can come near.
