THEME: “Strong in the Lord” – We will focus on imperfect men from Scripture and how God used them perfectly, and how God will do this with us as well.
THEME SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 6:10
GOALS: 1. To see and understand our own weaknesses in light of God’s strength, which is the source of our strength. 2. To grow in our desire to be in the Word and develop a closer relationship with God. 3. To enjoy God’s creation and fellowship with one another. 4. To be encouraged by each other’s stories and testimonies of God’s grace and provision of all we need by the power of His Spirit. 5. To strengthen our friendship with other men in Christ.
How was the cost of the retreat figured? We wanted to make the retreat as accessible as possible. Ridge Haven offers high quality housing and food along with a great retreat location and resources. The actual cost is higher than the registration cost. The men’s ministry team is off-setting that cost with church resources devoted to men’s ministry.
I want to attend the retreat but I can’t afford the $100 registration. Is any help available? Yes. Partial scholarships are available. To inquire about this, please email Scott Records (records.scott@gmail.com), our ministry team coordinator. He will contact you to follow up on your interest.
I would like to make a donation toward the scholarship fund. How do I do that? Donations of any amount are welcome. To make a donation, visit the church's online giving page and make sure to select “Men’s Ministry Scholarship Fund.” You can also write a check and drop in the giving box or mail to the church. Please note the above fund in the memo.
How much time do I have to register? Space is limited at Ridge Haven, so early registration is encouraged. Due to facility reservation requirements, please register by April 11th.
What are the room arrangements? Each room has two queen or double beds and its own bathroom. On the registration form you can let us know who you plan to room with. All rooms will be two to a room. Those who do not indicate a roommate preference will be assigned a roommate before you arrive.
Is any help with transportation available? On the registration form you can let us know if you need a ride or can offer a ride. We will share those responses with you so that you can set up your own connections.
What is there to do for free time while we are at Ridge Haven? Onsite there is hiking, biking (bring your own bike), canoeing, kayaking, swimming, volleyball, basketball, Gaga ball, a low ropes course, and a game room. For an extra fee, a climbing tower and paintball are available. Please let us know ahead of time if you are interested in either of these. Offsite there are waterfalls, horseback riding (Pisgah Forest Stables), and four golf courses within about a 30-minute drive. All of Saturday afternoon will be available for you recreate, rest, relax, and rejuvenate in the way that is best for you.
What do I need to bring? Your list should include a Bible and something to write with (retreat guides will be provided), bathroom stuff, comfortable clothing adjusted to the weather forecast for the weekend, a jacket, footwear necessary for any activities you plan on doing (hiking boots, golf shoes, etc.), insect repellant, sunblock, sunglasses, a water bottle and a portable chair.
