For years, a common response to when someone says they will see you tomorrow has been, "Lord willing, and creek don't rise." It's often a phrase people say without thinking, but it is theologically accurate. It basically points to the fact that we can't control the future. Our plan may be to see someone tomorrow, but God can easily redirect us. James 4:13-5:6 challenges us with how we arrogantly look at our future and overestimate ourselves. James says we are "a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes." Join us on Sunday as we grapple with a proper understanding of what is yet to occur.
