On Sunday, we will continue in our study of the Beatitudes with "Blessed are the peacemakers" (Matthew 5:9). Peacemaking is far more than having a peaceable disposition. Making peace means that we step toward what is broken so it can be restored. Jesus has made peace with us through his cross, so peacemaking is an external expression of the Gospel at work in us. We extend the reconciliation he has already accomplished. As a result, we resemble the Father and are called sons of God.
