Our study of the Minor Prophets now turns to the book of Joel. In this book, Joel calls God's people to lament and weep over their sin and rebellion. Yet, much like God's people throughout time, we don't grieve over our sin in a very effective way. We also lack the ability to lament before the Lord. Joel sets the stage for us to take a sobering look at our lives ("awake, weep, and wail") and the judgment that our sin deserves ("sound an alarm on my holy mountain").
