A Refuge in the Middle of Judgment

Passage: Joel 3:1–21
The book of Joel concludes with a stark passage of God's judgment on the nations surrounding Israel. While the beginning of the book was about God bringing locusts and drought against his own people, Joel 3 speaks of the destruction that God will bring in response to the sin of the nations. The judgment and wrath of God are not popular topics, but the Scriptures clearly teach them. Yet, in the middle of judgment is an incredible promise (Joel 3:16), "The LORD is a refuge to his people, a stronghold to the people of Israel."
